Powering Those Who Empower Their Communities
SunSource designs, engineers, and installs solar and battery storage systems built specifically for churches, faith communities, and nonprofits, helping you cut energy costs, access IRA cash incentives, and build long-term financial stability.
Your mission deserves more resources, not higher utility bills.
Utility rates have climbed an average of 40% over the last decade. Every dollar going to your power company is a dollar not going to your community. Solar changes that equation permanently.
Reduce Your Utility Bill
Cut or even eliminate your electricity costs. Lock in flat, predictable payments and redirect money toward your mission, outreach, and the people you serve.
Energy Sovereignty
Producing clean energy on-site means your organization is no longer subject to rising utility rates. You control your power and your budget now and into the future.
Become a Safe Haven
Paired with battery storage, solar keeps your lights on during grid outages or emergencies, making your facility a resilient anchor for your community.
Financial Security
Know exactly what your power will cost today, next year, and a decade from now. Build your budget with confidence and long-term stability.
Community Leadership
With 80–90% of global power expected from renewables by 2050, going solar today cements your legacy as a forward-thinking steward of your community.
Environmental Justice
Faith communities and nonprofits have historically been underserved in the clean energy transition. SunSource exists specifically to change that.
From first conversation to a working system.
A long-term energy project touches your facility, finances, board priorities, utility relationship, and future plans. SunSource coordinates the work so your organization has one partner guiding the project from early strategy through commissioning and beyond.
Understand the Need
We start with your utility bills, facility needs, mission priorities, and the questions your leadership team needs answered.
Design the System
Engineering and system design are built around your actual site, energy use, resilience goals, and long-term plans.
Build the Financial Plan
We help evaluate incentives, financing structures, grants, and project economics in the context of your organization’s budget.
Navigate Approvals
Permitting, utility interconnection, procurement, and project documentation are coordinated as the project moves forward.
Construct and Commission
The system moves from design to installation with the details managed through construction, inspection, and activation.
Stay for the Long Term
Commissioning is not the end of the relationship. We remain available as your facility, leadership, and energy needs evolve.
Tax-exempt organizations can access the full 30% federal solar credit.
Federal solar credit available through Elective Pay for eligible tax-exempt organizations
Elective Pay under Section 6417 allows eligible tax-exempt organizations to receive the value of the federal solar credit as a direct payment rather than a credit against federal income tax. The incentive can be meaningful, but it works best when it is considered as one part of the organization’s larger energy and financial plan.
Full 30% Credit
The federal solar credit remains 30% for qualifying projects. The key question is how the project fits the applicable timing and eligibility rules.
Elective Pay
Eligible tax-exempt organizations can access the credit through a direct-payment mechanism instead of relying on income-tax liability.
Planning and Documentation
Registration, project documentation, equipment sourcing, and filing requirements should be considered early in the project plan.
Financing Fit
The incentive is one piece of the financial picture. We help partners evaluate how solar fits alongside budgets, capital priorities, and long-term mission.
General information, not tax advice. Eligibility and credit treatment depend on project timing, equipment sourcing, IRS requirements, and the organization’s circumstances.
Flat payments today. Growing savings tomorrow.
Every year you pay a utility bill, that money leaves your organization forever. Solar locks in your energy cost so that after payoff, your power is essentially free while utility rates keep climbing.
Illustrative only. Actual savings depend on your utility tariff, system size, site conditions, and financing. SunSource provides a detailed analysis as part of your free assessment.
